The Mythology of the urSkeks
 |
The urSkeks' Castle
This is a hypothetical reconstruction of the original
crystalline form of the urSkeks' castle., based on crystal
symmetries, cleavage planes, and growth points still visible after the
Skeksis' deformation.

The Master Time Spiral
The floor pattern of the Crystal Chamber of the Skeksis, like the Throne
Chamber floor, was originally urSkek work, but it sustained far more damage
and repair during the Skeksis misrule. Nevertheless, the symbols of the eighteen orininal
urSkeks can still be seen arranged between the inner and outer rings. Even the
Emporer did not dare have them removed, for between them they constrained
the central Lake of Fire, over which the Crystal hung suspended. The elongated isosceles
triangle is a common element in urSkek work, referring to the constant blaze of energy of their coronas.

The Traingular Symbol
Triangular symbols permeate all the art an dlife of the
world of the Dark Crystal: Aughrian, urRu, Skeksis, or Gelfling.
In a pattern uniquely emphasized in the Dark Crystal world, they may also be
combined in the conjunction-portal symbol of the three solid
triangles enclosing an empty third. Some suppose that this symbol contains
a reference to the fifth element of the higher alchemy, the void; but if this
concept is present it is well concealed. as indeed it should be. |
